There are many different ways to install living roofs, many are as straight forward as 123, but no 2 roofs are the same so using the right technique requires some calulations which can only be done onsite, the structal weight of a living roof can be as much as 90kg per m2, so its very important to have a site survey
Some projects will require external resourses so a price may not be worked out on the day, these are normally due to the type of drainage system required or because of the extra reinforcement needed to take the extra weight, also the time scale based on the system you want.
We will not install a living roof on exsisting felt, we always use EPDM as our base material, this provides us with at least 50 years of sound waterproofing. It is a one piece system that has no joints which makes it the perfect choice as a base for the sedum plants, or rock garden.
Flat roof or is it a living roof
No, this is not a living roof it is in fact an old felt roof that has come to life but not by design! Many flat roofs follow in the same way unless you, the home owner, constantly weed and maintain them. Underneath this roof lies a damp dark secret, its rotting away, the roots are destroying what felt is left, soon the damp will be inside the garage, by this time the roof and all the beams that support the roof will have to be changed, adding to the overall cost. If like a lot of people you put value on the contents above the value of the roof, then at some point the cost of the roof will outweigh the cost of the contents. Say you worked for an insurance company and a customer said 'I parked my car in the garage and the roof fell on it', apart from being the funniest thing to happen that week, you would be more inclined to say, 'well if you had maintained your roof you would not need to claim, take a look at your garage or dormer then think about what would happen if it did leak or worst still fall in, now think about what it would cost to repair it, now the bills are endless. There is a saying "Don't fix it until it breaks". Our saying is " Fix it so that it never breaks".

Fully Grown Sedum Mat
A fully cultivated sedum mat that is cut into manageable turf like tiles with 3 layers as one.
Build in Situ
Installed layer by layer with sedum sprouts scattered evenly and softlypressed. This is the most economical way to plant a green roof. The sedum will be fully mature in 18 months and flowers will begin to appear after one growing season.
<60º Pitch Roof:
We can also install onto pitched roofs up to 60º using sedum honeycombs. These have been cultivated for a minimum of 18 months to FLL standard and are then fixed and laid, much like the Fully Grown Sedum Mat.
